Active Living 101

Active Living 101 is an introductory class to the kinesiology program.

Some of the topics covered in this 90-minute group session are learning about the effects of inactivity, discussing proper standing and sitting mechanics, physical activity guidelines and SMART goal setting. After completing the class, you will have the option to book an individual appointment with the kinesiologist or join the Lifestyle Program.

Join us Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:15 PM for a 30-minute beginner workout you can do from your living room. Our exercise specialists will lead you through a fitness session that’s good for your heart AND muscles. Suitable for all levels of fitness.

SMART Goal Setting

Plan ahead to reach your goals with SMART Goal Setting.

You may have heard of S.M.A.R.T. goal setting before. Exercise Specialist, James Sawchin, will talk about how you can apply SMART Goals and plan for success in reaching your goals, whether they be for physical activity or other areas of your life. SMART is an acronym for: Specific – Measureable – Attainable – Rewarding – Timely.

 

Weight Management

Learn how to make changes to manage and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Join local experts to learn factors that affect our weight, principles of effective weight management, how to increase your physical activity, manage calories and nutrition and develop healthier habits. Classes offered through PCN and AHS.

Exercise Prescription 201

This class focuses on learning the different types of exercise and what facets of your physical fitness they may help to improve, how to schedule your weekly exercise effectively using the F.I.T.T. principle and how to self-progress your fitness plan at your discretion. This class has both an educational and active component. 

MOVE Walking Group

MOVE is a free weekly exercise program for Edmontonians.

This program gives Edmontonians the opportunity to be physically active along side a family physician and a kinesiologist (exercise specialist). This community-based program encourages participants to be active outside–no need to go to a gym or buy any exercise equipment.
